Jessica Nowell Memorial Stomp Out Domestic Violence a great success!

The auditorium was packed on Sunday December 6th for the Jessica Nowell Memorial Stomp Out Domestic Violence Step Show. Seven teams from the Clarke County School District performed routines that combined precision stepping with a message about intimate partner violence, and all of them showed creativity, style and skill! Barnett Shoals Elementary took home the Judges’ Favorite honors, while Hilsman Middle was named runner up. Clarke Middle School won the Audience Favorite Prize, with Burney Harris Lyons placing second. Thanks to everyone involved for an inspiring, exciting, fundraising event for Project Safe.

Project Safe receives “Moving the Work Forward” Award

Moving the Work Forward AwardAt the 21st annual family violence conference, The Georgia Commission on Family Violence (GCFV) presented its “Moving the Work Forward” award to Project Safe. Project Safe was one of two domestic/family violence prevention partners honored with this award.

“Being recognized by The Georgia Commission on Family Violence is a great honor for Project Safe. It’s a tribute to our visionary board and staff who saw the need for the program years ago. Thanks to all of our staff members, interns, and volunteers who do the work of breaking silence every day” said Project Safe Executive Director Joan Prittie.

Leadership Training on Domestic Violence, June 27th

Join other spiritual leaders within the Athens area for a free training about the dynamics of domestic violence, barriers to those in need, and victim services and community resources. Learn how service providers increase the safety of victims of domestic violence and develop techniques on responding to both parties involved. Lunch will be provided.
