Shelter Advocate – Nights & Weekends

Project Safe is currently hiring part-time Night & Weekend Advocate. Night and Weekend Advocates work between 1-4 shifts per week answering the emergency hotline and providing onsite emotional support to survivors of domestic violence living in an emergency shelter during overnight and/or weekend hours. A minimum of 20hrs a week commitment is needed for the position.

Legal Advocate – Madison, Oglethorpe, & Oconee

Department: Outreach
Reports To: Community Response & Outreach Services Director
Salary: $41,000 – $46,000 Based on experience.

The Rural Legal Advocate provides trauma-informed legal advocacy and direct support services to
survivors of domestic violence in Project Safe’s rural and outer-county service areas. This position
focuses on survivor safety, legal system navigation, and collaboration with criminal justice partners in
communities where access to resources is often limited.

The advocate works directly with survivors to provide crisis intervention, safety planning, legal
information, and court advocacy while also strengthening coordinated community responses to
domestic violence. This role requires flexibility, strong judgment, and the ability to work independently in
rural environments.

Thrift Store Manager – Athens

Responsible To: Associate Director
Hours: Full-time, exempt. Requires flexibility. Typically Tuesday–Saturday alternating periodically with
Monday-Friday or Sunday-Thursday. The manager’s schedule should balance
consistent presence during busiest days with time for administrative activities on
slower days and periodic work work with volunteer groups.
Salary: $41,000-$45,000
Paid vacation and sick leave, paid health insurance, 403b retirement plan

Project Safe, Inc.’s thrift store is the only public location for our organization and plays a vital
role in PSI’s mission to end domestic violence within the Athens-area and surrounding
communities. Through public and private donations, the thrift store supports survivors’
transition to safe independent living and works with numerous community stakeholders and
organizations to effect positive change. The manager ensures that the store meets financial
goals while cultivating a welcoming space for customers, donors, staff and volunteers.

Hours: Part-time, 25 hours per week. Requires flexibility, but typically Tuesday-Saturday. The manager’s schedule
should balance consistent presence during busiest days with time for
administrative/promotional activities on slower days and periodic work with
volunteer groups.
Salary: $20-21/hour

role in PSI’s mission to end domestic violence in Madison, Oglethorpe, Oconee and Clarke
Counties. Through public and private donations, the thrift store supports survivors’

organizations to effect positive change. The Danielsville store opened late August, 2025 and
the manager will oversee the growth of sales and relationships in the community.

Project Safe is seeking an intern interested in presenting vital information on the dynamics of dating violence to teens and young adults. This internship is ideal for health promotions, child & family development, education, women’s studies, psychology, sociology, or public health students.

Breaking Silence Social Media – NEW! Closed for Spring 2026, Open for Summer 2026

Project Safe’s Breaking Silence team is seeking an intern interested in working with the Youth Educator & Advocate and Textline Managers to create social media campaigns included, but not limited to: content creation for the Breaking Silence accounts, editing podcasts, and uploading blogs to the Breaking Silence website. This internship is open to anyone interested in communications, marketing, or PR majors who are knowledgeable around social media trends and are willing to work within the Breaking Silence team to offer new ideas around working with you.

Fatality Review – Closed for Spring 2026, Open for Summer 2026

Project Safe is seeking an intern interested in the issue of domestic violence from a community-wide perspective in Athens. This intern will work closely with Project Safe’s Fatality Review Coordinator to examine closed domestic violence fatality cases and implement recommendations for change to prevent future fatalities. This internship can be done in conjunction with the Project Safe Direct Services Internship.

Administrative – Closed for Spring 2026, Open for Summer 2026

Project Safe is seeking an administrative intern who is looking to work with an experienced Executive Director on anything from energetic fundraising to public relations to complex and intricate grant proposals.

Thrift Store – Closed for Spring 2026, Open for Summer 2026

Project Safe is currently recruiting for a Thrift Store Intern. Preference is given to applicants who can commit to at least 15 hours a week and those who can commit to more than one semester. This intern will work closely with the store manager, staff, and volunteers in improving the productivity and profit of the store and would be ideal for students studying business or marketing/advertisement.

Digital Media – Closed for Spring 2026, Open for Summer 2026

Project Safe seeks a Digital Marketing Intern to work with the Community Involvement and Volunteer Coordinator on anything from designing social media campaigns to crafting public relations content. This is an excellent opportunity for a marketing or communications major who has knowledge of social media trends, can work independently, and has strong communication skills.
